The Nitty Gritty on Xeno-Estrogens – Part 1

Essential #3 of the “7 Essentials System™” is all about hormonal balance for Breast Health. The first thing I tell the women when we discuss this Essential is: Don’t be afraid of your body’s naturally-produced hormones! Your hormones are part of your overall biological makeup. They are essential to the healthy functioning of all of your body systems, not just your reproductive system. What’s more, they are an important part of what makes you uniquely you!

However, there are toxic chemicals that will masquerade as hormones in your body. This includes estrogen in the form of Xeno-estrogen. Xeno-estrogens will wreak havoc on hormonal balance and can lead to Breast Cancer. The heavy Xeno-estrogenic load that both men and women are carrying today is one of the major causes if not the major cause, of estrogen-positive Breast Cancer in women today.

Where are Xeno-estrogens hiding?

For the last few decades, there has been increasing evidence of the health dangers of chemical toxins. Here is a basic list of the major sources of Xenoestrogens in particular. If you are on a Healthy Breast journey (or you are committed to a healthy, toxin-free lifestyle in general), make every effort to avoid these common, everyday sources of Xeno-estrogens:

  • Commercial dairy and meat products (contains growth hormones);pesticidesxenoestrogens
  • Commercially-processed food (contains preservatives such as BHA as well as food dyes);
  • Canned foods and plastic containers (contains BPA and BPA-S);
  • Commercial, non-organic fruits and vegetables (contains pesticides);
  • Commercial sunscreens (contains 4-MBC);
  • Antiperspirants made with Metalloestrogens such as aluminum;
  • Commercial make-up and sundry products (contains parabens);
  • Commercial detergents and surfactants;
  • Pesticides and herbicides;
  • Tap water (contains oral contraceptive contamination).

What Xeno-estrogens Do In Your Body

Xeno-estrogens are “foreign estrogens” which imitate aggressive estrogens (mainly estradiol) and take up vital space in mammary tissue estrogen receptor sites in the body.  These potent chemicals are powerfully dangerous and research has found high levels of them in most Breast Cancer tumors.

Because estrogen is involved in dozens of hormonal pathways in the body, the concern with Xeno-estrogen is also whether or not estrogen methylation, in general, is healthily taking place. If your body is not able to metabolize or break down the chemical estrogens, then build-up and or estrogen dominance can occur. Another concern is how Xeno-estrogen interferes with not only the reproductive system (for both men and women) but also how it affects other cellular functions. For example, Xeno-estrogen build-up can change brain chemistry and lead to neurological conditions. It can also cause an imbalance in cortisol levels and thyroid hormone deficiency. In a vicious cycle, these other effects of Xeno-estrogens are also related to high Breast Cancer risk.

In addition to Breast Cancer, high levels of Xenoestrogens have been directly connected to the following disease conditions:

  • Prostate, uterine, ovarian, colorectal, kidney and liver cancers;
  • Cysts in the ovaries and fibroid tumors;
  • Fibrocystic breasts;
  • Endometriosis;
  • Osteoporosis;
  • Preeclampsia.

Being Proactive with Prevention is part of what the “7 Essentials System™” is all about. In addition to overall organic living, reducing toxic exposure, and focusing on a healthy lifestyle, there are also simple tests you can take to determine how well your body can metabolize estrogen to break down those toxic Xeno-estrogens in the body. in Part 2, we will discuss what you can do if you have an issue clearing out those toxic hormones.
