Ginger: More Powerful than Chemotherapy for Healing Breast Cancer

Conventional medicine will tell you time and again that the MOST EFFECTIVE way to fight cancer is through either surgery, chemotherapy or radiation (or a dangerous combination of all three).

But more and more people are becoming aware that  natural protocols, even specific natural substances, can kill cancer at its roots without the deadly side effects!

Ginger is a Superfood

You may love ginger for its taste and know it for its use in many recipes. Besides being a zesty addition to a meal, it is also a “super spice” and one of the healthiest foods on the planet. Ginger can clear up the lymph, is anti-inflammatory and helps to stimulate digestion.

In addition to all this, according to a study conducted by the Division of Cancer Research at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology in India, ginger also contains 6-shogaol, a chemical which targets and kills cancer stem cells.

Ginger Targets Cancer Stem Cells

In general, stem cells are unique because they have the ability to reproduce themselves. Healthy stem cells help to renew organs and tissues. Cancer stem cells, however, have the ability to grow other cancer cells and can act as a reservoir that can then repopulate an organ or tissue after chemo, radiation or surgery. Most importantly, cancer stem cells can be a catalyst for metastasis, the process by which cancer in one part of the body travels to another part of the body.

According to the researchers, ginger is 10,000 more effective at killing cancer stems cells than conventional chemotherapy.

Why?

This involves explaining a little bit more about the unique properties of cancer stem cells. These cells make up less than 1 percent of the total number of cells in a Ginger health propertiestumor. What makes them so dangerous, however, is that they are very hard to destroy. For the most part, they cannot be killed by drug therapy.

Stem cells can also morph into other cell types. In the case of cancer stem cells, this means they can travel and create tumors in other organs of the body. This process of metastasis accounts for 90% of all cancer deaths.

In the Indian trials, 6-shogaol targeted Breast Cancer stem cells in many different ways. For example, it induced programmed cell death and also poisoned the cancer stem cells outright (cytotoxicity).

Ginger’s 6-Shogaol 10,000 More Effective Than Taxol

The researchers looked at how 6-Shogaol effected human Breast Cancer Stem cells and compared that to stem cell targeting of the chemotherapy drug, Taxol. First they conducted a one-dimensional, or monolayer, study of both 6-Shogaol and Taxol, which showed that both the ginger component and the drug effected cancer stem cells. But when they compared the two using a three-dimensional model (believed to be more accurate), they discovered that Taxol had very little effect on Breast Cancer stem cells. 6-shogaol, however, was still very effective.

Taxol’s result remained the same even when researchers increased the dosage 10,000 times.

Deadly Side Effects Versus No Side Effects

There are many known serious side effects of chemotherapy drugs. Here are some of the side effects of paclitaxel, the commercial form of Taxol used as a chemotherapy drug:

Blurred vision

Confusion

Cough / sore throat

Fever or chillsPills, Medicines and Bottles

Dizziness

Lower back or side pain

Painful urination/ blood in the stool

Shortness of breath

Skin rash or itching

Sweating

Troubled breathing

Ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth

Unusual bleeding or bruising

Tiredness or weakness

Weakness in the extremities

Tightness in the chest

Anxiety

Cracked lips

Diarrhea

Hair loss

Nausea or vomiting

Inflammation in the joints

The negative side effect of ginger? There are none.

Let Food Be Your Medicine

“Dietary compounds are welcome options for human diseases due to their time-tested acceptability by human bodies,” write the researchers of the 6-Shogaol/ Ginger study. This couldn’t have been said better. Food really is your medicine, and it is a form of medicine that works with your body’s amazing ability to heal itself, not against it.

So consider adding plenty or raw ginger to your juices, smoothies, and recipes. The essential oil of ginger and these ginger capsules are a great addition to your preventive or healing protocol.

  1. 1500mg in powder/capsule form 3x/day.
It has a warming effect….think of hyperthermia used in German clinic.
Been using it myself for 2mos now. May adjust if fresh roots included in diet.
May help low back pain & other body aches dt warmth & increase circulation.

  2. Now i have breast cancer, one have been removed and other one is afftected. Wil ginger cure the breast cancer without surgery, chemo or radiation.

  3. I have heard that dried ginger, or ginger powder, is more effective than raw ginger because drying the ginger releases more of the 6-Shogaol. Is this true?

    1. There are benefits to both. Like a higher vitamin content in fresh versus dried. But the drying process does convert the Gingerol to Shogoal.

  4. if you had a breast tumour would massaging ginger oil into the breast help externally while taking ginger internally too?

    1. Yes, taking both ginger essential oils and take ginger supplements can be used at the same time, but we do recommend working closely with a healthcare practitioner on your healing journey to help you in developing the best supplementation plan based on your history and your diagnosis.
