Apple Ginger Smoothie

It’s always good to get back to basics. Whether  you are on a healing journey or you are simply being proactive with prevention, blended drinks or smoothies should be a part of your daily menu. I like to juice in the mornings and then have a smoothie for lunch. The blending adds more fiber and variety to your drink. You can add oils, whey, powdered concoctions of maca, pre-biotics, or various seeds. This recipe is full of green power and has a wonderful taste from the ginger and lemon. The ginger and lemon stimulate the digestion system and support your liver, which we all need! Bon Appétit!

In a Vitamix or powerful blender, add the following:

2 handfuls of fresh parsley

1 green apple, quartered

2 cups of Kale, with stems removed

½ lemon, peel and all, if it is organic

½ inch ginger root

¼ cup MCT oil (coconut oil derived)

Add enough water or unsweetened almond milk to your consistency preference

Blend on high for a minute. Lower the speed and add 1 scoop of protein powder of choice (whey or plant)  and mix for only a few seconds.

Get creative and pour into champagne or martini glasses for a special treat. Enjoy!
