Blended drinks or smoothies should be part of your daily routine. It is a great way to get a heavy dose of raw greens and powerful super foods. Be creative to change and change up the flavor with low glycemic fruits and veggies. Blueberries are part of my “Super Food” list because of their high anti-oxidants and nutritional value. Blueberries are high in Vitamin C, K and Manganese. Add kale or spinach or Swiss chard and you have an alkaline liquid feast bursting with energy. If you want to add extra protein to the mix, use grass fed, organic, cold processed whey protein. It boosts your Immune System by stimulation glutathione production, which is the strongest, primary anti-oxidant that your cells produce. Bon Appétit.
Add the following organic food in a powerful blender like a Vita Mix:
1 cup purified water or unsweetened almond milk. The almond milk provides more calcium and a bit more flavor.
2 large handfuls of kale (without the stems) or spinach
1 cup blueberries
2 celery stalks
1 green apple, cut up into quarters (do not remove the core as it contains B17)
Add ice if your blueberries are fresh and not frozen
Blend on high for a few minutes until all the chunks are dissolved.
Turn the blender on very low and slowly add the whey protein. You do not want to blend the whey protein on high since it can fragment the amino acids. Enjoy!
