Almond Chocolate “Bons Bons”

This is a great way to get some healthy fats in your diet.  One of my favorites are called Fat Bombs, which I renamed to “bons-bons”. Translated into English, it literately means “good – good.”. They are high in healthy fats and low in carbs. They are very simple to make and certainly satisfy one’s desire for a sweet chocolate nugget with NO SUGAR! You can make these in a variety of ways. One of my daughters mentioned using peanut butter instead of almond butter and that would change the taste to a Reese cup! Let me know what you think.  Bon Appetit!

On your stove top, use a medium size pan on medium heat.

Add the following and gently melt. img_8275

Ingredients:
3/4 cup unrefined coconut oil
1/2 cup almond or peanut butter
1/2 cup grass fed butter or ghee
1.5 Tbsp.  raw cacao powder
1 Tbsp. chocolate protein powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon stevia glycerite (or liquid stevia of your choice to sweetness)

Whisk together thoroughly and place in silicone trays or small ice trays, about 1 Tbsp each serving. You can get creative and add various nuts at the bottom of the tray. Place in the freezer and let harden for 30 minutes.

This batch made over 60. Keep frozen until ready to eat. Enjoy!

  • How much of the bon bons will take you out of ketosis? i.e. How many carbohydrates per bon bon (if you were making the same portion-size as in the photo on your website?)

    • If you are using unsweetened nut or seed butter, I cannot imagine how Eating several those would Take you out of ketosis. I use fat bombs to help me STAY in ketosis. Personally, I will not use the protein powder and probably less of the stevia; I love dark chocolate. I also like things much less sweet now that I have given up all sugar and 99% of these alternative sweeteners!

    • Hi Susan! You can choose honey or maple syrup as well….just sweeten to taste, but remember they are both sugars even though they are natural, so try to use sparingly!
