Men Get Breast Cancer Too: Here’s How To Break The Silence & Reclaim Healing

men breast cancer

Quick Read:

  • All men have breast tissue. Any breast tissue can become cancerous, regardless of chest size or muscle mass.
  • This year, about 2,800 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the USA, and about 25,000 men will hear the same shocking and isolating words across the world.
  • His Breast Cancer Awareness, Male Breast Cancer Global Alliance, and Male Breast Cancer Happens are helpful nonprofits that provide support groups, education, resources, and community for men.

When most people hear the words breast cancer, they instinctively think of women, and usually a lot of pink. But breast cancer does not belong to one gender, one type of testing (mammogram), or one type of healing plan.

This year, about 2,800 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the USA, and about 25,000 men will hear the same shocking and isolating words across the world. And since it is rarely discussed and tested for, many men are not aware they have cancer until it has grown into a later and more aggressive stage.

The most common form of breast cancer in men is IDC: Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (the same type most commonly seen in women), which originates in the milk ducts and spreads into surrounding tissue.

The difference is not the cancer itself. It’s the lack of awareness and testing. Additionally, since breast cancer has been branded as a women’s cancer, many men may feel embarrassed to discuss or not even recognize the signs of breast cancer.

This is why we are dedicating a blog post on our website to supporting men with breast cancer and bringing attention to the fact that breast cancer is a human dis-ease.

What Men Need To Know About Breast Cancer

The following is good education for everyone, because wives, girlfriends, adult children can be helpful supporters of their fathers, uncles, brothers, etc. health and awareness.

Male Breast Cancer Cheat Sheet

  • All men have breast tissue. Any breast tissue can become cancerous, regardless of chest size or muscle mass.
  • Chest size has nothing to do with risk.
  • Watch for: Lumps or thickening in the chest or underarm, nipple changes or discharge, skin dimpling or redness, pain or swelling on one side. Click here to learn how to do a self-breast exam.
  • Many men have no family history of breast cancer. Just as it is for women, your DNA is not your destiny (even if you have the BRCA gene), because you have the power over your epigenetics. AKA: Lifestyle, hormone balance, environmental toxins, inflammation, and metabolic health are what really matter.
  • The 7 Essentials System® applies to men, too.

Support and Resources for Men With Breast Cancer

One of the hardest parts of a male breast cancer diagnosis is the isolation. Most support groups, online spaces, and awareness campaigns are centered around women, which can leave men feeling invisible, out of place, or forgotten. Thankfully, there are growing resources created specifically for men.

His Breast Cancer Awareness

https://www.hisbreastcancer.org/ is one of the most comprehensive resources for men with breast cancer in the USA.

They provide:

Male Breast Cancer Global Alliance

https://mbcglobalalliance.org/ provides support across the world for men in several languages.

They provide:

Male Breast Cancer Happens

https://malebreastcancerhappens.org/ Founded by Bret Miller, who found out he had breast cancer at the young age of 24, Male Breast Cancer Happens provides:

Seeing someone who looks like you, speaks like you, and understands your experience can be tremendously helpful—just like it is for women.

How the 7 Essentials System® Applies to Men Too

At Breast Cancer Conqueror, we teach that healing is not about chasing cancer — it’s about rebuilding the body’s internal terrain.

The 7 Essentials System® is just as powerful for men as it is for women, because cells are cells.

Let’s break it down:

  1. Let food be thy medicine. Nutrition and eating strategic foods to support healing is just as important for men. Click here for our blogs on food and nutrition.
  2. Reduce your toxic exposure. Men are negatively impacted by toxins just as much as women. Therefore, it is important to be strategic about reducing toxins and detoxing. Click here for our blogs on toxins and detoxing.
  3. Balance your energy. Hormones, sleep, exercise, nervous system regulation, and so forth are all equally important for men. Click here to learn more about the relaxation response and your energy systems.
  4. Heal your emotional wounds. This one may be even more important for men, as stereotypically, men are not encouraged and supported as much as women are when it comes to healing from trauma and managing their emotions in a healthy way. Unhealthy emotions can impact your DNA, immune system, and hormones—everything that happens in your emotional world is intrinsically connected to your physical health. Click here for blogs on healing emotional wounds.
  5. Embrace biological dentistry. The breast-dental connection is so strong that about 90% of the women we have supported have had adverse health effects from mercury-filled amalgams, root canals, cavitations, and other dental toxicities. Teeth are teeth, so the same goes for men. Click here to learn about smart, nontoxic oral health solutions.
  6. Repair your body with therapeutic plants. There are specific plants and supplements that actively kill cancer cells, reduce tumors, detoxify, and strengthen your immune system. They can also make chemo and radiation more effective while decreasing the unpleasant side effects. Men should also strategically use plants to heal, as cancer is cancer—it doesn’t know gender. Click here to learn how to blossom with powerful plants and supplements.
  7. Adopt very early detection. Every person, no matter the dis-ease benefits from early detection. Click here to learn about testing and monitoring options.

In the end, EVERYONE should follow the 7 Essentials System® as it is a helpful tool for wellness and vitality!

How Men Can Support Their Partner Through Breast Cancer

Many men come to Breast Cancer Conqueror not because they are diagnosed, but because the woman they love is. Supporting a partner through breast cancer is its own journey.

Here’s how men can be powerful healers without trying to “fix” everything:

Be Present, Not Perfect

You don’t need the right words. She just needs your presence, your listening, your comfort, and your ability to sometimes sit with discomfort rather than trying to erase it.

Educate Yourself

Understanding:

  • Her diagnosis
  • Her treatment
  • Her options
  • Integrative support
  • Her ability to make decisions for her own body

All of the above empowers you to walk beside her—not behind her—and support her voice in medical settings.

Support Her Healing Environment

Help reduce:

  • Toxic products in the home
  • Processed food
  • Stress triggers
  • Overwhelm

You can play a big role in her body’s ability to heal.

Take Care of Yourself

Caretaker burnout is real. Your nervous system, sleep, and emotions should be equally protected. Make sure YOU are intentional about supporting yourself, so it’s not another thing she has to manage.

Strong support starts with a supported supporter.

Never Fear Breast Cancer Again!

Whether you are a man facing this diagnosis, supporting a partner, or simply educating yourself, your awareness—supported by ACTION—saves lives.

Even if breast cancer is rare in men, silence and lack of education and support should not be.

You got this; we believe in you!
