What is Soursop?
Guanabana, paw-paw, and graviola are a few of the names that are interchangeable with Soursop, a fruit native to the tropical regions of the Americas. It tastes like a delightful mix of mango and pineapple and sweetly loads your body with nutrients. The list is long, but the key vitamins and minerals include Vitamins B1-3, Vitamin C, Folate, Zinc, Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium, and Phosphorous. Soursop is also high in antioxidants, including flavonoids, phytosterols, and tannins.
Flavonoids
If you have been keeping up with my blogs (click here for related articles), you probably recognize the word flavonoids. I frequently discuss their anti-cancer, anti-oxidant, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory benefits. If you need chemotherapy, they can make it more effective and may reverse drug-resistant cancer cells. They have also “exhibited good tolerance and few side effects” when used in combination with standard chemotherapies to enhance the anti-cancer effects. One easy and potent way to get the flavonoids you need for healing and prevention is by taking daily Brocco Power supplements.
How do people take Soursop?
Across Africa, Asia, and South America, people enjoy soursop pulp in juices, smoothies, and ice cream as a lovely treat. The bark, leaves, and roots are also used to treat parasites, rheumatism, arthritis, depression, and other sicknesses. You can now buy it in capsules, powders, tinctures, and tea forms.
In laboratory studies, extracts can kill some types of breast cancer cells and can be resistant to some chemotherapy drugs. However, we are still waiting on human research and tests.
Are there negative side effects to taking Soursop?
Yes. There is a sour side to the sweet fruit.
First, I want to reiterate that NOTHING should used as a cure all on its own. One of the best ways to find out if something is working is to TEST—so you don’t have to guess and stress. RGCC’s Onconomics Extracts Test is a unique and highly detailed test that provides information on how effective natural substances and plant extracts are at attacking your circulating cancer cells (CTCs) and breast cancer stem cells (BCSC). This way, you can know exactly if a natural remedy is effective for YOUR BODY.
Neurotoxicity Issues
Many studies have discovered, “Overconsumption of Graviola fruit (Soursop) and products made from it has been linked to an atypical form of Parkinson’s disease that does not respond to the standard treatment (l-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine or l-DOPA). More recently, it was shown that chronic consumption of Graviola juice can trigger and aggravate the phosphorylation of cerebral tau protein, leading to tau pathologies, including Parkinson’s disease.”
To review a complete study published in 2022, please click here. It backs up that Soursop offers positive qualities, such as providing anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-protozoal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties. However, it also warns that toxicology in high doses. “The acetogenin in A. muricata is a neurotoxin that has the potential to cause neurodegenerative disorders.” “Acetogenin causes an increase in tau phosphorylation, which is associated with neurodegenerative tauopathy [100]. In addition, some alkaloids in A. muricata are believed to have an influence on nerve cells [1].”
Are there other natural remedies that do NOT present neurotoxicity issues?
Absolutely, and I am glad you asked! There are dozens of natural treatments to incorporate into your healing journey. Again, please always TEST what works for you. RGCC’s Onconomics Extracts Test is a great option that I highly recommend. Your Lab Work tests can also provide insight into inflammation, nutrients, metabolism, blood count, etc. Lastly, there are several safe and reliable tests that can provide critical information to guide your breast cancer healing journey. Please review them at the end of this blog post.
