Ingredients:

For the Patties

  • 1 lb grass-fed ground beef
  • 1/2 large yellow onion, finely grated
  • 2 (or more!) garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup almond or coconut flour
  • 2/4 tsp Celtic sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp sugar-free ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp coconut aminos
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Gravy

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or grass-fed ghee (divided)
  • 1/2 large onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 8oz package of mushrooms of your choice, sliced
  • 1 1/2 tbsp arrowroot flour (to thicken sauce)
  • 2 cups grass-fed beef bone broth
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp coconut aminos
  • Sea salt and black pepper to taste
  • Parsley to garnish

Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, combine all of the Pattie ingredients and mix until well combined. Shape into individual hamburger-sized patties.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and coat with some oil. Cook the patties on both sides long enough to brown them, 30 seconds or so on each side. Remove to a plate and set aside.
  • Add one tablespoon of oil or ghee to the same skillet and lower the heat to medium. Cook the onions for one minute and then add the garlic. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to soften. Add in mushrooms and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the second tablespoon of oil or ghee and whisk in the arrowroot. Slowly pour in the beef broth while continuing to whisk.
  • Add in the dijon and aminos.
  • Add the patties back in and cook for 5 minutes or more until the patties are cooked through.
  • Serve patties with the sauce spooned over them and garnished with parsley. Delicious with mashed cauliflower on the side!
