Artificial Intelligence (AI). It’s THE hot debate right now, and it’s not going away. For good or bad, privacy violations or time-saving support, it’s ingraining itself into every part of our lives. It can also monitor your heart rate and sleep patterns, depict your credit score, decipher which social media posts and ads you will see…and oh-so-much more. We all have opinions on our rapidly changing and often confusing world. However, in the world of breast cancer care, there’s no doubt that AI enhances breast cancer care by offering highly personalized support and real-time insights. From extremely early detection (starting at 1a!) to enhancing surgical precision, AI empowers medical providers to guide their patients to remarkably better outcomes.

Below, we will look at a few of the top AI tools for breast cancer healing available today, starting from the beginning of the journey. However, before going on, all of us at Breast Cancer Conqueror® want to be clear that AI can be used as a tool, but it should never solely replace a human brain and soul. Additionally, like everything else in your healing protocols, always back it up and balance it with other tests, second (or third) opinions, and your intuition. Nothing is ever perfect, even machines. 

EMFs & Electro-sensitivity

Speaking of balance, be intentional about taking long breaks from your personal robots—smartphone, computer, TV, Apple Watch, iPad, and all devices. Ethical Considerations and Challenges

  1. Data Privacy – Everything based on AI relies on sensitive data, and the world of technology sometimes moves faster than the world of security and regulations. 
  2. Algorithm Bias – AI naturally has a bias (same as humans) to whatever models they are trained on. Non-diverse datasets risk producing biased outcomes, so efforts must be made to ensure equitable care.
  3. Validation and Integration—Developers create AI tools that must be used by medical providers, who may not be used to using so much tech in their practice. Therefore, challenges may arise when asking them to seamlessly integrate AI tools into their daily routines.

While there are real concerns around AI, it is here to stay and also doing a world of good. Dr. Restrepo of Mass General Brigham makes an excellent point:

“Our brains are constantly gathering data points, and we’re cross-examining that data with what we already know. But when it comes to finding a diagnosis — that needle in a haystack of information — we can’t revisit every case learned or reread every page of medical literature, especially if dozens of other patients need our attention.”
