Note: Homeopathic medicine may not be suitable for everyone. Additionally, if you choose to use it, then it should be one of the many healing therapies you use—not the only one. Please consult your medical team and work with a homeopathy practitioner for the best results. Additionally, make sure to research the brand you use, because they are not created equally.
Quick Read:
- Based on the principle of “like cures like,” homeopathy uses highly diluted substances derived from plants, minerals, and other natural sources to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms.
- Homeopathy can help manage uncomfortable side effects from treatments, boost energy, support your immune system, improve energetic wellness, and so much more.
- The American Institute of Homeopathy’s directory can help you find a practitioner near you.
Homeopathy has been practiced for thousands of years worldwide due to its ability to support the body’s innate healing capacity. It is currently part of mainstream medicine in Europe, with approximately 50% of Dutch doctors regularly incorporating it into their practice. However, America’s reliance on big pharma has made homeopathy and other natural health practices harder to access.
But things are changing, and the research is slowly happening. The National Cancer Institute now recognizes homeopathy as part of “Complementary Alternative Medicine” recommended for people conquering cancer.
However, before we begin, you should always work with a highly trained homeopathy practitioner to guide your medicine and healing. We suggest finding one in the American Institute of Homeopathy’s directory. Remember, healing Breast Cancer is not just about getting rid of the lump—it’s about a complete TRANSFORMATION of all aspects of your life. Homeopathy is just one of the many personalized strategies in our 7 Essentials System® to ease side effects, address emotional distress, and restore energetic balance. This blog explores what homeopathy is, how it can support your healing journey, and how to integrate it safely and effectively with your overall care plan.
What Is Homeopathy?
If you are unsure what homeopathy actually is, or need a refresher, this section is for you. If not, skip to the next.
Homeopathy is a 200-year-old natural healing system developed by German physician Samuel Hahnemann. Based on the principle of “like cures like,” homeopathy uses highly diluted substances derived from plants, minerals, and other natural sources to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms.
These remedies are selected individually based on your physical, emotional, and mental symptoms, not just your diagnosis. This individualized approach aligns beautifully with our 7 Essentials System®, which recognizes that true healing goes far beyond the tumor.
Homeopathy does not aim to “treat cancer” directly. Instead, it works on energetic levels, helping to rebalance the terrain of the body and mind.
Key Concepts of Homeopathy
There’s a lot of misinformation around homeopathy, so please take a moment to read this section, and always feel free to ask the team specific questions via our contact page.
- Like Cures Like: For example, red onion causes watery eyes and a runny nose—so a highly diluted form of red onion (called Allium cepa in homeopathy) might be used to treat allergy symptoms with similar traits.
- Dilution and Succussion: Homeopathic remedies are made through a process of extreme dilution, often to the point where no molecules of the original substance remain. The solution is then shaken vigorously (succussion). This is believed to imprint the energetic “memory” of the substance into the water.
- Individualization: Homeopathy is highly personalized. Practitioners consider a person’s emotional, physical, and psychological state to choose the right remedy, not just the disease label.
- Minimal Doses: Remedies are typically given in tiny amounts, often in pellet or liquid form. Despite the dilution, homeopaths believe the remedy stimulates the body’s own healing response.
The Role of Homeopathy in Breast Cancer Healing
While homeopathy is not a replacement for oncology treatments, research and anecdotal evidence suggest it can be a powerful complementary therapy. Dr. V has personally used and professionally suggested to women just like you the use of homeopathic medicine for:
- Managing treatment side effects like nausea, fatigue, hot flashes, and skin irritations.
- Supporting emotional well-being, including anxiety, fear, and sadness.
- Reducing post-surgical discomfort and bruising.
- Boosting energy, immunity, and overall body and mind resilience.
- And countless other reasons!
New Research on Homeopathy and Breast Cancer
Modern science is slowly beginning to take note of the power of homeopathic medicine as an effective and safe option for improving the quality of life and supporting breast cancer healing journeys.
For example, this promising 2023 study analyzed data from the French nationwide healthcare database. It focused on women who underwent mastectomy for newly diagnosed non-metastatic breast cancer and found these wonderful highlights:
- Patients with cancer who use homeopathy report better quality of life.
- Homeopathy is associated with a decrease in medications that palliate the side effects of cancer drugs.
Integrative care works. One thing did not cause the cancer, and one thing will not heal it. However, many therapies will heal your body and mind and help you live a vibrant life, even during conventional treatment.
Commonly Used Homeopathic Remedies for Breast Cancer Support
While your remedy must always be selected based on your unique symptoms, here are a few commonly used remedies that have shown benefits in breast cancer care that Dr. V has used for herself and recommends to fellow Breast Cancer Conquerors. She mainly uses tinctures from the Bio-Active Nutritional brand which you can find in our online shop.
Physical healing and quality of life support
- Artemisia: Also known as wormwood, has been shown to inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells and has promising anti-cancer properties. (2023 study) You can buy it directly from The Shop.
- Pau d’arco: Also known as taheebo, it exhibits anti-proliferative effects on breast cancer cells, promotes apoptosis, and helps combat inflammation. Additionally, quercetin, an antioxidant that literally “freezes breast cancer cells,” is one of the active compounds found in Pau d’arco. Please click here to read more about Quercetin.
- Una de gato: Also known as cat’s claw, extracts from this plant have shown anti-proliferative effects on breast cancer cells and anti-inflammatory properties. It has been used in native Peruvian tribes for over 2,000 years, and now many researchers believe it could be a promising agent in treating breast and sarcoma cancers. This study also discovered that Una de gato reduced adverse chemotherapy effects, reduced fatigue, and improved their quality of life.
- Arnica montana: Often used post-surgery or after physical trauma to reduce swelling, bruising, and pain. It may also help with muscle soreness and fatigue. (2024 study)
- Phytolacca decandra: Traditionally used for breast pain, engorgement, and lymphatic congestion. Some homeopaths recommend it to ease inflammation after radiation.
- Belladonna: May help relieve radiation-induced skin redness, inflammation, and heat sensations. (2004 study)
- Mistletoe: While it’s not technically a homeopathic remedy, it is a plant that could be helpful in your healing. It decreases miserable symptoms from chemotherapy, prevents blood clots, fights infections, and increases quality of life. Click here to learn more about mistletoe.
Emotional and energetic healing
As we all deeply know, breast cancer isn’t just a physical journey—it’s an emotional, mental, and spiritual one as well. Homeopathy recognizes this truth and offers tools to support your inner world, not just your outer symptoms.
For example:
- Ignatia amara is often used for grief, shock, or emotional repression.
- Natrum muriaticum may support wellness warriors dealing with deep sadness, betrayal, or unresolved trauma.
- Sepia is frequently indicated for women who feel exhausted, irritable, and emotionally disconnected, especially during hormonal changes.
These remedies can also support women going through hormonal therapies like Tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors (learn more here), which often lead to emotional and psychological side effects.
As stated above, homeopathic medicine should be used with the guidance of a licensed classical homeopath who is familiar with integrative oncology care. The American Institute of Homeopathy’s directory can help you find a practitioner near you.
Create a Path to Healing that is Uniquely YOUR OWN
By addressing the root causes—not just symptoms—homeopathy aligns beautifully with our core belief that a healing journey should follow an integrative path: personalized, holistic, and multi-dimensional. For many women healing from breast cancer, this ancient form of energetic medicine provides comfort, clarity, and connection when it’s needed most.
If you’re feeling called to explore homeopathy, trust that intuition. Healing is never one-size-fits-all. With the right medical team, support system, 7 Essentials System®, and tools (such as homeopathy), you can create a path toward effective healing that feels authentic, empowering, and truly your own.
